Urbanscapes: A Comeback with a Bang!

urbanscapesUrbanscapes is back in 2016, now bigger and better than ever! Fans of the music and art festival got a little worried last year when they took on a hiatus, but it seems that all the wait is definitely worth it.

To be held over three weekends between 23rd April and 8th May 2016, the event will be located in venues all over Kuala Lumpur, and will see the participation of many indie graphic artists in Malaysia, such as Lina Tan, IMMJN (pronounced as ‘imagine’), I AM MAY, and KATUN. There will also be workshops available for visitors to participate in, namely terrarium-making by Ohsum Mossum Terrarium, calligraphy classes by KLigraphy, and watercolour-painting workshop by weekendiminlove. All classes will be held at the temporarily-named Urbanscapes House, in Medan Pasar, KL. Do note however, that all these workshops require prior pre-registration, so make sure to check Urbanscapes’ website for information.

And true to the spirit of the festival, some amazing performances have been lined up over the three weekends in KL Live, including concerts by international acts Tame Impala, Rudimental, and M83. Also headlining their own show are Malaysia’s own Hujan and Bittersweet, who will be sharing the stage for a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Other attractions include Market of Experience (a cross borders and multi-experiential market that engages with the public in interaction through their senses) and Cannot Be Bo(a)rdered (an exhibition featuring works by 16 artists and collectives from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia that uses skateboards as a primary medium). Both these events will be held at Urbanscapes House.
